Trying to create mill cycle to select a dowell

pin and bring it to a location - then down to a

z location and stop - then use it for a part stop - tighten the vise - then back the pin away from the part and retract - Is this a macro or

a custom drill cycle or ?

Thanks for any advice

Naw man. You guys are crazy. biggrin.gif (like I'm not biggrin.gif )Use a "Point" Toolpath and have it generate an M00 with the Canned Text and VOILA! Edit free code the way you want it.

But James if it is soemthing you do everytime if you save it as an operation with the tool defined the spindle speed zero and everything. You could then save it as an operation and just call that from your operation libary everytime after that when you need it and save yourself a bunch of time.

We do this for a Check Pin/Gauge Length we have here for the 5 axis machines. It is 6 operations for every tool and if you had to recreat them everytime becomes a PIA and I just pull up my fail safe pin op from the libary at everytool and done.

All of the ways dicussed will definately work.

I think I like the custom drill cycle idea though.

You could set it to grab the defined diemtere of your pin, divide in half, add an offset if chosen for rough stock. Many things you could make come out the same way every time.

Many possibilities

I Put up an example on the FTP site. It's in the MCX_Files Folder called "POINT TOOLPATH EXAMPLE - M00.MCX"

I used the generic UNMODIFIED 3 Axis VMC Post. Straight outta tha box. biggrin.gif

Hope that helps explain a bit better.
