you may call some steel companies and ask about hot rolled plate that has been ground top and bottom(Blanchard) and put holes in yourself. Maybe try Quality steel in dayton, ohio if you do not have a source. Have it flame cut to size and burn out rough openings, etc.

Well unless the router is a fix table I think you are in for some trouble. These machines are very light weight in nature and adding that much weight to it might mess up your ball screws and everything else. I would check and see what the total weight capacity of the machine is and see what you put on them is going toadd and then take away from on the weight you can put on them. I think a Thermwood is 1000lbs and our Komos is about 1750lbs. Most old table that big for a machine are upwards of 4" to 8" thick so hell of alot of weight. Might check ebay in the used machiney section and find something.

HTH and good luck

We make subplates for our machines [they are much smaller than your table 40X20] out of G2 stress-relieved iron plate [i use 1-1/2 because of bushings and such that we install] that I have Blanchard ground both sides. Typically we will put screw- and locator-pin holes in the plate on a Bridgeport, install the plate on the machine, put any holes and hardware required in the plate, and then flycut it at the end so everything is nicey-nice. Because of the size of your machine you would need to do something in sections and probably chip the whole thing when it was installed to make sure it was relatively flat...
