post logic question.....

Hi All,

can anyone explain why the following kicks out a error, and/or why the second one works?

 

var1 = 0

var2 = 0

 

this does not work,

 

if var1 <> 0 | var2 <> 0,

[

do this

]

 

this works,

 

if var1 <> 0,

[

if var2 <> 0,

[

do this

]

]

I thought the | symbol meant or ?

On that one you should not need the brackets

Should work with or without the brackets[].

one hint when checking values is that it is safer to check values to a tolerance. Zero isn't always zero, it could be.00001 and depending on formatting and such it could never correct.

 

var3 = abs(var1 - var2)

tol = .00001

if var3 <= tol, do this

Well, I gotta say I'm eating alota EGG this week,

I re-typed in the one that did NOT work and now it works (Obviously I had a typo that I did not see), still, I never knew John's method worked like that. (one line)
