  1. Have your IT department put together a document listing the information they need and then they can work with your local reseller or us direct to get the data they need. I personally haven't been through this type of request before, however I did forward this along to others here at CNC to see if anyone has dealt with this before. Out of curiosity, did you give your local Mastercam Reseller a call on this?
  2. JP the updates to the new migration should ONLY update default installed files that have changed. So if you only have 6 posts that need updating that is all that should update, not ALL posts found in the folder. Same for machines and controls. There was bug where the flag used to determine what to migrate wasn't being set correctly so ALL installed files were being migrated regardless if they had been modified or not.
  3. Mastercam X9 Public Beta is Now Open! Mastercam and Mastercam For SolidWorks Public Beta Release We want your feedback! The Mastercam X9 Public Beta release is open to all current customers who are on Maintenance. You can learn more about this Beta release and find the link to download here. During the Public Beta phase we will be supporting everyone through the Mastercam Industrial Forum, which is staffed with CNC applications engineers, posts writers, technical support, software developers, and QC engineers. As we collect feedback and make changes, we'll make further updates available via the forum. You must be a registered user on Mastercam.com to download the public beta. If you are not a registered user , when you visit Mastercam.com click the register option in the upper right corner and follow the instructions.
  4. The file path is still visible in the Mastercam title bar at the top so you can see where you are as it is saving this file in that location. Bucktruck's point of forgetting to save changes to a new file is a valid point and something i will make sure gets shared with the UX team. For now you just cancel and do a save as. AS far as why we made that change, I'll have to get back to you on that one as I don't remember the specific discussions. Everything the old Mastercam specific style File Open could do, you can do with the standards windows file dialog it's just a little different. There used to be two styles of file dialogs - windows style and Mastercam style. Now we just offer the Microsoft standard windows style.

  7. Dave, The crash reports can be very useful but sometimes, especially if the crashing is random they may not help at all. Keep sending them if you get them as they do get reviewed and the more we get the better the mystery can be solved on some of them. If you can repeat the issue then you should report the issue to our support staff or through your reseller so it gets logged into the database and you get a reference number that you can use to track what is happening with the issue. [email protected]

  13. Sandybar, did you receive any messages or errors when trying to open after the update? Did you reboot after the update finished installing? Any errors or messages during the install of the update? You can also send us your update log which can be found here: C:\Users\your user id\AppData\Local\Temp\Mastercam X7\Mastercam X7Update.log Yop can also check for an install log here: C:\Users\you user id\AppData\Local\Temp\ It would be in the form of MSIxxxxx.LOG where the X's are replaced with a number combination. You can sort by modified date to find them. Send them up to [email protected] and we will see if there is anything in there that helps.
  14. Glad to hear that worked Mig. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on X8.
  15. Lukedu69, Email [email protected] and include the email address you used to register and your login name and we can try and see what is going on. Did it say your account was linked successfully? Is your Maintenance active? Jim
  16. Mig, Once you have linked your account you can log in from anywhere. You do NOT need to login in from the computer that you linked your account with, In the link above I do explain what the issue is and how to fix it and avoid it. The problem simply comes down to an empty key mapping assignment for plane manipulation (no key assignment to switch views). This will be addressed for release so this is only an issue for beta.
  17. Mig, Please see this posting on the problem and how to resolve the issue. http://forum.mastercam.com/FindPost1168.aspx
  18. If you computer that runs MAstercam is not connected to the internet, then copy the linking code that you generate to a text file and bring that text file to a machine that is connected to the internet. Login to cnc.mastercam.com and it should bring your to the linking page, copy the code from the text file into the dialog and you should be fine. The linking program MUST be copied to the main Mastercam install folder and run from there. Mastercam X7 is ideal to do this from. If you do not have X7, then you also need the CodeMeter program installed before running the linking code. You can download CodeMeter and the linking code here if need be: http://cnc.mastercam.com/en-us/Support-Downloads-Drivers-and-Applets If you are still having problems please email us at [email protected]
  19. You have to register on the new website and part of that registration process is linking your newly created account. This requires that you create a linking code tied to your Mastercam SIM. If you create an account but do not complete the linking process you can't reach the downloads. If you create an account and follow the instructions you can be downloading in minutes. If you need assistance please email [email protected] and we can help you through the process.
  20. Mastercam X8 Public Beta 2 has been made available to all current Mastercam maintenance customers to try out the new features and get your feedback before the product release later in the year. We've been beta testing for some months now and gone through four full Beta release cycles, gathering a lot of information and invaluable feedback while working with users and shop-testing the software. Now we want to open up the Beta to the general Mastercam community! This Public Beta release is open to all current customers who are on Maintenance. The Beta release can be downloaded here and will be supported through the new Mastercam Industrial Forum, which is staffed with CNC Software applications engineers, post writers, technical support, software developers and QC engineers. As we collect feedback and make changes, we'll make further updates available via the forum. Here are just a few of the things you'll see in the Mastercam X8 Beta: Solid Modeling Improvements such as push/pull direct editing, advanced model prep tools, a new interface and workflow, and hands-on drag controls. Mastercam Dynamic Motion technology for both Mill and Turning is enhanced, helping to further reduce cycle times and improve tool life - on just about any machine. Mill-Turn is expanded to include twin turret support, ability to define and select reference positions, and many other job setup / tool loading / sync manager enhancements. Dramatically improved region chaining includes new tools such as the Air Region chain that defines safe air the tool can move within. New integrated 3- to 5-axis tilt away option in 3D finishing to avoid shank and holder collisions by using multiaxis motion. Speed improvements in toolpath generation. UI Improvements, including upgraded graphics to provide a cleaner look and clearer, more responsive selection tools ..and many other productivity improvements across the entire product. Beta Updates and Known Issues We are looking to release a new public beta approximately once a month. Known issues, updated bug fixes, and other details will be delivered when you install the current Mastercam X8 Beta. Mastercam.com Forum All information from CNC Software, Inc. will be sent via the new Mastercam.com forum. All customers are encouraged to post any feedback in this forum as it will be actively monitored by CNC Software staff. Other forums will not be actively monitored for beta feedback.
  21. Codemeter must be installed on the computer for the linking program to run. If you have X7, then you should have codemeter unless you uninstalled it. You can grab the appropriate (32bit, 64bit) code meter download from: https://cnc.mastercam.com/en-us/Support-Downloads-Drivers-and-Applets Once you install codemeter then the linking application should run. If you are using a nethasp, please make sure your copy the linking program to main mastercam install folder (same location as the nethasp.ini). If you are still having problems after any of the above, please email [email protected].
  22. oppiz, It is the nethasp.ini in the main mastercam install folder. When you send that to us, please send me your sim number so we can generate a code for you. Jim
  23. Thanks Rubben. Does it happen on every part or only a specific part? Can you send us the part file? If so send it to [email protected].
  24. Oppiz the Mastercam.ini file can be found in the main mastercam folder.
  25. Ruben, Try resetting your stock extents every time you go in and see if that works? I believe we are chasing down an issue where the stock extents are not being saved correctly in some cases. So if you set them, go in to simulator everything is fine. Come out and try to go back in and no go. I'll run this by the Simulator team to see if they have any other suggestions. Jim
