Custom Post Processor Beginner

Is there any information available for someone to learn about customizing post processors. I know G-code very well but I have no experience customizing post processors. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

There is a V9 Post Reference CD, which may still be available through your reseller for a "small" fee. In the documnetation folder of your MCX install there is a post parameter ref.pdf which has a great deal of information.

 

Post customizing is nothing at all like G code but you have to know gcode to verify what you are getting out of your post processor.

 

Start making some samll tweaks to get an understanding of what affects what and how different sections are built, used and referenced.

 

Always, always, always backup your post before starting any tweaks.

Thanks I'll see about the CD and ref.pdf and I guess I'll start trying to make some changes and see how it affects my output code.

I'll also look into that ref.pdf file. I don't understand why Mastercam doesn't package documentation regarding post modifications along with the software. Newer programmers (like myself) can sometimes struggle getting everything ticking like a clock while our employers only care about results. I've also learned much about modifying the post on this forum using the search feature. There are many great users on this forum that understand the frustration when things just don't go as planned.
