DNC-B operation

this is not going to work with standard cable configuration. DNC-B is special to okuma and allows you to restart from the control along with many other things.

I do not have the setup for it here you need to contact your applications guy for okuma.

you will have to go to parameters page and type in CMPS it will show you the parameters for the dncb baud and all that.

also you have to flip both switches up and have green lights if not power off and back on.

We have an Okuma MX55VB with a U100M control. We have one cable, and use both DNC-B and standard RS232 through the same port.

With DNC-B, we set the transmitting computer ready to transmit, (we use Easytalk), and then in Auto Operation, we Programme Select A.MIN, and transmission starts. Both switchs for Communications and Buffer Operation need to be on (lamps lit).

Give that a try, as that error seems familiar (I'm not at work so I cant check)

DNC-B is some special protocol, and probably will require special handshake. Does the Cimco Edit have this built-in?

I know with Predator DNC, you have a normal send to CNC, using Xon/Xoff, but then you also have DNC-B send using a Okuma B protocol.

Okuma sells a package for about $1200-$1500 to do this. Alot of Okuma customers who have paid for the DNC-B Board/Port ($3-5K), don't want to sink another $1K+ from Okuma for their software. Predator is a less expensive option because they have the protocol built-in.

Maybe that is the issue...
