Backstep when chaining?

when im finished a single chain it breaks it into multi chains.

A single chain as in one chain, or as in single option when chaining? If you have single selected, each entity that you select will be a chain. Maybe you knew that and I'm reading into it wrong. headscratch.gif

I try to create a chain partial, select wait and if I select a wrong enity, I try to use the unselect button, then continue creating my chain, and when i am finished I will have 2 chains rather then 1. but I think it is a video problem because i can not see my arrow directions when I do this.

If you end up with 2 chains instead of one, I'd say it's not a video problem. Typically, the video problems are only visual. It's probably a video problem in the fact that you can't tell what's selected and what isn't though...so indirectly it's a video problem. headscratch.gifbiggrin.gif

I, and others, experience similar video issues when rechaining. Right click a chain-Rechain all and the old chains stay highlighted. Now it's difficult to see what you're selecting. Now, I delete the chain first, then select Add chain. That gets rid of the problem.

In my experience, if you're in the middle of a chain-partial and you select the wrong entity, you'll have to start over. So I've run into your problem too. frown.gif

Unlike most people I don't like all of the extra edge curves that you get from igs files. The first thing I do after reading in a file is to delet all wireframe geometry. Then I create the chains I need for the toolpaths I need. I can see by your picture that you have edge curves all over your part. This gives me problems chaining also, that is why I clean up my models first.

Note: if you don't wish to delet all wireframe just move it to a diferent level and turn it off. If you only have the chaining geometry you need visible, things will be much eseier.

This is a solid I created in mcam, ran the nohist c-hook, deleted all creation enities, created all curves in mcam, and deleted duplicate enities, so I dont really get any extra edges, With c-plane selected you dont have to worry about the extra lines in any other axis, and i usualy use full chain, and not partial, just use partial when ther are intersecting lines on the same axis

Yeah Thad, that is how I do it now, I was just hoping that there may be a better way, it dosnt usually take to long, just annoying

I hit Alt S all the time (turns off the shading) Then I can see the chain better when things are tight.

I agree tony I am always turning it on and off, wish it would show the chain a bit darker so you wouldnt have to do that, but alt s isnt to hard to do I guess
