conversion from Esprit

Does anyone know of a third party converter for esprit files to convert to mastercam v9? These files were created by a contractor and we don't have access to Esprit software.

Hi Joe,

 

I'm not aware of a direct translator, but I would certainly think that Esprit could output *something* that MC can import. In MC9, go to File-Converters and see all the file types that MC can import. See if they can send you any of those. IGES (I-GUESS) would be a last resort.

Call or e-mail me and I'll be glad to help figure out what file type to convert it from. I know a couple of our current Mastercam users who are familiar enough with Esprit that we can find out what the best file type would be. Also, welcome to the forum. HTH

You best bet will be to find someone who does, since Mastercam doesn't have an Importer for Esprit's file format.

We use Esprit and mastercam and when we send a file over from one to the other IGES works just fine for us. I have never tried this specific conversion with surfaces as I don't need to.

I don't understand why you would need a copy of Esprit. Can't someone just make a phone call or send an e-mail and tell them to convert to IGES.

It really should be no big deal.

Good luck with this as I think it's a simple solution.
