C-plane Indicator

Is there a way to place the XYX C-Plane

(red, green and blue) indicator at the origin

instead of the top left of the graphics view?

NOt to the best of my knowledge Rick.

 

AFAIK, it is not moveable

Seems more useful and easier to identify if it

were at the origin.

Alt-F9 (I think) comes in a close second.

Settings -> Configuration -> Screen -> and check option for "Display WCS".

 

Its not red, green, blue, but it is displayed at the origin.

I do have that checked but it does not change

when you change C-plane(or tool plane)unless

you change WCS

 

I dont find it necessary to change WCS when I

draw using C-plane front and side.

 

Is the WCS mainly used when creating a C-plane?

I have used that function to create planes on

compound angles.

 

Should I be changing the WCS when simply drawing

in front and side C-lanes?(is it necessary)

 

i don,t think I fully understand WCS yet.

I don't. I draw in a different Cplane and use WCS for machining.

you can use wcs to your advantage if you want to use just one model and say program 6 sides of a block that has details that need to be machined in 6 setups .ie.....

 

 

 

 

 

 

but no you dont have to keep changing your wcs when you are constructing things

uses the same origin. Yet you are not rotating

the Geo.

Hi Rick,

 

Take a few minutes and read through the section on WCS in the Mastercam Reference Guide PDF file. There is about 30 pages describing the WCS in detail. If you are doing horizontal machining, you would leave WCS set to TOP and only use rotated C planes. Some people do use WCS for horizontal programming, but I'm not one of them. I prefer to see my spindle coming in Z from the front plane just like it does in the real world.
