3D Contour

Would any of you please see this file, and explain what i am doing wrong. Trying to cut a 3d-contour, but tool stays above part.

In case Link is not correct, its 3d-contour at MC9 folder.

The way I would try to do this is pick the contour line >> xform project up to the zero plane and cut it as a 2D contour instead. Use a 2D ramp contour if you don't want to engage it all at once.

Have no time to look at your file ,but ...

Looks like your height is incremental ,but you input it absolute .

In 3 d contour height is always incremental

Your way looks kida overkill for me

I heavily use 3d contour with great success

I just like to keep it simple where evr I can but you are correct on the incremental

I do have height set at 0. incremental, but still ramping up and down as it cuts

set it to -.35

 

and try that

I broke up spline many pieces/by error..and works fine now thanks.

Ahhh .

I know this too.

You need to be cautious sometimes instead og going up your tool can go down

Happened to me a couple of times on geometry like a contour on cylinder .
