X2 update1

Earlier this month I linked to some Solidworks

benchmark tests showing an 80% perforrmance

hit when running Vista. Like Mastercam, SolidWorks

uses OpenGL.

This is from the Path1 on VIsta thread

quote:

I have X2 and X2 MR1 (Beta) both running on VISTA, be aware that some users have found a dramatic decrease in performance of Mastercam especially with NVIDIA Graphics cards not having effective drivers for CAD/CAM applications at present.

JM2C

no shoulds or could here... Vista does not support

our graphics engine and any drivers that NVIDIA

comes up with will be a work around.

Microsoft as really given the Cad/Cam world the shaft with Vista.

Something I hadn't considered....

Maybe Mastercam/Vista will run OK with mainstream graphics cards now and we won't have

to buy high end Cad/Cam cards to get acceptable graphics performance???

X2 takes a performance hit on my Toshiba M60 notebook, running XP Pro. I dont have an issue with X MR2, but whenever I try to shade a large model, or use a solid in Verify, it locks up my notebook :/ We have one programmer using a Dell workstation experiencing the same issues. Is there any resolve for this? (I tried the usual measures, like altering graphics acceleration etc, with no improvement)
