Lathe go bang.... almost

HI Guys.

I've had trouble with something in the lathe part of Mastercam that I can't figure out why it doe's what it doe's. When I go to finish parameters, pick a line (to face) choose the face/turn tool(cnmg431)change finish direction to

face, put compensation direction to left, all works great. Go on to the next operation. When I regenerate it crashes, I check the tool I had face and the finish direction has changed to o.d. and the comp. dir. has changed to right. 9 out of 10 times. Can anyone think of something I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like a bug to me. You should use the Zip to Go utility off of the Help menu and send the file to [email protected]. As a work around have you tried locking the toolpath right after you create it? By locking it Mastercam *usually* won't allow any of the parameters to be changed.

I don't have X2 but you might want to try comp on "Auto" instead of left/right when using the same tool on both sides of the line like that.

There is no auto. Only left & right.

I think I know what you are having trouble with.

It seems to only do it on finish passes and only in backplot. The g-code generated will not crash but the backplot will.

I get around this by inputting a small value in my lead in under the add line. I usually put .050" at whatever angle my tool is coming from (almost always zero).

It only doe's it on facing passes and not only in backplot. It actually changes the facing to o.d. and from left to right in the operation itself.
