hsm rough tool path

Just wondering, how possible to “plunge outside boundary” when you using HSM rough tool path ?

You can use tool containment boundary to keep "some" of your toolpath outside of the boudary but this is a HSM toolpath and part of that is getting into the stock where it remains.

 

So I don't "think" in all cases there is a way to do this unlike the surface rough pocket.

 

So considering tooling is a factor because there is likely to be "some" ramping or helix entry in these paths.

 

If you need to start outside for what ever reason then using the surface rough pocket is probably a better choice for a tool path for you.

From the few times I've had the opportunity to use it, the Core Rough seems to always plunge outside the boundary.

Not for the entire path at least, portions of it yes.

I guess mostly it depends on the shape of the part being machined and the tool used. I've only used a 2" facemill with this path. For everything else I use Area Clear.

I playing with HSM tool path now and unfortunately can’t find way to plunge by way I wont .

I always using this option in rough pocket tool path (were it necessary of course ).
