Oval - coarsely digitized

Here comes :-)

I drew a simple oval 6 x 12...set the tool into the material and after I blew the coolant off the material, I expected to see a continuously blended oval contoured edge. But what I got was digitized edge...not smooth.

Is there a way for me to increase the resolution so the point to point lines are smaller?

Thanks and Happy Friday!

Roger...the Linearization tolerance was set to .001".

I had made an adjustment and reset it to .0002". Much better, but still can see short line to line moves...quite ok for my needs tho.

To achieve the least visible line to line contour, what do u think is the smallest resolutuion which can be set for the Linearization tolerance?

.00001 would be my starting point long code but might solve your problem. We just did a part where .0008 was giving us .02 linear deviation. So we had to get everything to withing .0001 to keep the part in the .004 true position we were trying to hold. Cool this is customer said it was the bets looking one they had ever seen so we like hearing that.

Also might want to check the machine and make sure it is not to sloppy as well this will give you some fits sometime and not be the code you are using. A good text is a 6" circle and see what your finish looks like and how round it is on your CMM.
