NC Filename X2 MR2

Hi guys, Haven't been on here for some time but of course the opportunity always arises when there is an upgrade I've just upgraded from X2 SP1 to MR2 (I tried MR1 but had graphics problems so went back to SP1) I did a fresh install of MR2 and everything has been working fine so far

 

One thing I have found though is that even though the configuration settings for the Toolpath Manager are exactly the same as my SP1 setup it won't ask me for a NC file name on the first operation. It defaults to the MCX file name. But on subsequent ops it asks me for the name. Anyone finding this and/or is there a fix.

Any suggestions help much appreciated

Make sure the configs path goes to the right MCX intsall this has become a common problem..... For me also.

Ok I've changed the setting to Prompt - Always and use MCX file name instead of previous operation name. Now I just have to substitute the MCX name with the file name I want each time I make a new operation which is basically what I was doing before anyway.

After working some more this morning I'm not finding this method ideal at all.

 

I still want to be able to have a prompt for the first operation and then be prompted for a file name on subsequent operations as well ie SP1. Any suggestions?

This is a bug in MR2. I have the same problem and sent it in during Beta testing only to find it wasnt fixed in the release.

How did you get on the beta program? I was told by Axsys that they didn't have beta testers in Michigan back when I inquired about it.

I just called them up and asked them. I beta test other software for them as well. I didnt do any beta testing for any mastercam products since version 8 but just started again with X2. So maybe at the time you asked them I wasnt doing any testing.

Thanks Ed, so looks like we'll have to wait until another patch is released and maybe it will be addressed then??
