  1. Hi guys, Anyone else noticing this? I didn't see any other threads about this issue. I reported this in beta3, seemed to be fixed in I think it was RC2, but now the problem is back in the release version. So I reported it again. Thanks, Ed
  2. You should really take a look at Powermill. We use it for our Makino's and are able to program at a 1micron tolerance. I know that is a little overkill, but Powermill eats right through it. 2d in Powermill sucks, but processing time is pretty good. I have also heard good things about using Work NC along with Makino's.
  3. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! So far all Windows Vista Graphics problems seem to be resolved!!!
  4. I have done this before too!! Simply amazing!! Actually the holes were drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 and they were supposed to be 5/16-18. I had the OSG rep come out and he had never tried drilling an existing hole bigger and tapping. It took a few taps and a few drills, but man, like you said it saved a ton of money and time. OSG even split the cost of the taps and drills that broke. They are a great company to deal with and make great stuff!!
  5. I just called them up and asked them. I beta test other software for them as well. I didnt do any beta testing for any mastercam products since version 8 but just started again with X2. So maybe at the time you asked them I wasnt doing any testing. Good luck!!
  6. This is a bug in MR2. I have the same problem and sent it in during Beta testing only to find it wasnt fixed in the release.
  7. This was a problem I personally sent in while testing MR2 beta. It was also happening to us sometimes in MR1, which I also sent in. Your right, a warning should have been posted to avoid until fixed!!! Not Good!!!
  8. gcode Did you download and install vcredist_x86.exe first?? Yes I did. I had MR1 working on the computer with no problem installing that from the web.exe install file. So I dont know what was going on, but like I said it worked when I made the CD from the MR2CD1 ISO file I got from my reseller.
  9. GS This is what I get: 1628: Failed to complete installation Windows XP Professional x64, service pack 2 I got the same thing on our XP 64bit system. It installed on our 64bit Vista systems no problem. I looked up that error online and tried everything that was suggested, cleaning the temp directory, etc. I had to get the MR2CD1 ISO file from our reseller and make a CD. Everything worked fine then.
  10. No problem, glad to help and save someone some cash!!! I agree, I have NEVER had any problems with using Geforce cards instead of Quadro cards.
  11. Im a mold guy, so turning isnt my thing AT ALL, but he had a billet of Aluminum that had a weight of 100lbs, and he had to removing a lot of material from it, and everytime he roughed, the bit would move or something like that. He had Applications Engineers from Mori there everyday trying to figure out what was going on, and they couldn't.
  12. I personally don't know which one is better, but the 8800GTX will be able to handle anything you can throw at it and Im sure its a lot cheaper than the Quadro. Like someone else said, avoid spending the extra money for the Ultra, its a waste of money IMO. I can overclock my 8800GTX to Ultra specs.
  13. Thanks Rick. That what I thought, but my only experience is with Fadal's and Makino's. I heard Mori's were great machines too, but I also heard not many people in the Mold/Die industry have them. My Uncle bought a Mori Seiki CNC Lathe and he told Mori to take it back and shove it after 6 months of them not being able to get the job he bought it for running. He ended up losing about $500K worth of work because of it. He took the job to them before he even bought the machine and they told him "NO PROBLEM".
  14. Why not go with a Q6600 Intel Core 2 Quad? Prices came down a lot for the Quad Cores and it gives you the option of running 4 Mastercams at a time. As far as 64bit Antivirus like someone mentioned, I am using the FREE Avast Antivirus and it seems to work great. I used XP 64bit before switching to 64bit Vista Ultimate. DO NOT switch to Vista just yet, I don't use Mastercam everyday, I use Powershape and Powermill, but when I do use Mastercam the screen CONSTANTLY flashes and it is so annoying. I know a lot of people use the Quadro graphics cards, but why not save some money and go with an Nvidia 8800GTS or 8800GTX? They will run Mastercam just as well in my opinion. I would NOT go with a Raid 0 configuration. If you lose one hard drive you lose ALL data and the performance difference is not that significant. Good Luck!!! Ed
  15. Not to change the subject, but how do you guys think Mori's compare to Makinos (for vertical machining centers)? Are they of the same quality? Have any of you guys used both? Thanks
