Haas RS-232 Communication Problem?

I have a problem trying to communicate to my machine (Haas VF0). I can receive a program to the computer, but can't send a program to the machine. It seems that all my settings are correct, but I could be mistaken. Any Ideas?

Depending on cabling you can or can not implement hardware shaking

You may need to imply software flow control

I have "Handshaking" set to software on the Computer. Is this what you are talking about?

This may or may not pertain, but the first character in the program must be a % sign when communicating via RS232 on a Haas. It's been a while since Iv'e been on a Haas but these are my notes:

 

HAAS MILL RS232 RECEIVE

 

1. Press LIST PROG

2. Move cursor to highlight “ALL” at end

Of program list

3. Press RECVRS232

4. Send program from computer

* program must start and end with ”%” sign

is that what your dnc software is set to? Every software setting has to match machine settings including your baud rate, you prolly know this though. What dnc are you using?

Not using DNC. Sending out of MC editor to machine.

Are the cable connections correct?

 

Take a look at this link and test your cable with a multi meter.

Try turning handshaking off, set the machine to read, then send the program from the computer. If it works this way then you've narrowed it to a handshaking problem. If it doesn't work this way then you need to do some more digging.

We run with handshaking off. If the machine is not set to recieve it saves one walk back to the PC. we use Legacy.

Format: ASCII

Parity: Even

data bits: 7

Stop bits: 1

BAUD: 38400
