HUGE FILES

I am still using mastercam 7.2 for surfacing and toolpathing. I am programing progresive dies and am using one .mc7 file for the whole job, upper forms, binders, posts, forms, 3-d trim stations etc.

I am using multiple named views for each steel relating to each steels pick up corner.

The problem is I am creating up to 140 toolpaths in one file, and they are getting

very large, some 100,000 kb. and up. They are taking forever to open and store.

The nci files are all being saved in another

directory, and with each toolpath I make the mc7 file keeps growing.

Is there a way to keep the mc7 file from keeping all the nci data, that is also being stored in another directory?

thanks for your help.

Thank you one and all for the replies.

I have not been using ram saver but have done it on my current large file and the size change was minimal, is the ram saver suppose to cahnge the file size or make mastercam run more efficient?

When I am pulling rough toolpaths, my tolerance is set to .005 leaving on .030 stock for semi and finish paths. does that sound about normal for what you folks are using for roughing paths?

If mastercam 8 is more efficient for file size. I may have to start my, HEY GET ME SOME NEW SOFTWARE ROUTINE.

THANKS

A tolerance of .005 to me is ok, sometimes i bump it up .02 & & use arc filtering to help smooth out some of the linier motions. Then i use high speed machining tweaking around some parameter settings, then after high speed has run ,a dialog box pops up telling me my lines & arcs reductions & percentage change"compares". From that point i can accept or, reject the changes restart high speed & tweak some more till i get what i want.

NEW SOFTWARE ROUTINES

Elaborate a bit on that so i can get a better idea . ok
