Thank you that worked just fine however know my tool #3 alarms out with a z over travel. It tries to send the tool + 15.0 (on a haas vf2 this is not gonna happen. It is a remachining toolpath set to the roughing tools Dia. Part is a 10 tooth gear remachining just the small dia at the bottom of each tooth. In between teeth MX wants the tool to go to this +15.0 mark ??? Why only this operation..

I've had that happen too. It wants to send the tool to Z10. which is not what the clearance or retract is set to. In fact here's some code for a retract for a part I am working on now. Clearance and retract are both set to Z1.

I've seen this a few times but can't repeatedly reproduce it.

I agree it's not the most elegant or straight forward way of doing things, but it does come in handy once in a while. It is also a perfectly valid way of turning cutter comp on and off (at least in a Fanuc control).
