I have this g-code

What happens is the tool moves to X11.3526 after the first pass then back to X13.92 which is the start point.

 

I do not know where the machine is getting this extra X move?

The bar crashes on the back wall of the ID because of this extra move.

 

I'm 100% sure the G-code is good.

Where is the machine getting this X move at the end of each cut in the threadeing cycle?

I've seen strange things happen on an Integrex if the tool definition is done incorrectly.

 

You should verify that the tool definition is correct if you are using Mazatrol tool data.

 

EIA on an Integrex is almost always a pain.

They've never gotten it bullet proof.

Crazy I out putted the same tool path with long hand (G32) and it worked a treat.

The G76 in theory should do excatly the same thing!

There must be a parameter that is causing the extra retract.

I'll let you know if I found out.

Sorry, but we use it all the time last job had 34 tools all eia and the only problem was the id threading like David is seeing. I changed it to threadmilling and all was good. Biggest thing is use the T01.01 format. Using the letter solves all problems I see with eia and tool offsets.

 

David I will try the G32 and see what happens.

I don' beleive it is a must, only if you want to use any thing other than the first lettered tool (in alphabetical order)description.

 

Example: In Mazatrol you have a tool described as 80A and 80B in pot 1.

If you call T01 it will default to the lowest lettered offsets in this case A.

If you want to use the tool as 80B you must call T01.02

David I just got in the habit of using the number to the letters. I made a chart for doing this and have not had a problem since. My post has been changed to output the eia offset as well as the Mazatrol letter when outputting the program and each tool has that information as well like so.

Mutil Axis you need to make sure all of the parameters are set correct on th machine to use the Mazatrol offsets when you are running an eia program.

Try using a secondary spindle and EIA and have it be bullet proof.

That is what I am talking about doing sub spindle and main spindle work in EIA and using Mazatrol offsets.

Yes David we put zero in for our tools and then use wear from there. Yes T18 gave us a problem on the sub spindle, but T19 using the same format and code for the main spindle did not give us a problem. If it had happened on both spindle I would be inclined to think it was something we were doing wrong, but since it is only on the sub spindle I am thinking it is a parameter or machine glitch. Still no answers from Mazak on this problem.

I found out I was wrong about using the G276 on the front spindle and Id threading it work fine on both spindles for OD work. I switched to the G32 like suggested and that works just fine. I checked all the parameters related to the threading and all are set to what they should be. Still no answer from Mazak. Works this way just more code is all.

Crazy

This is what my controller looks like.

Below is the Tool Offset page.

I have to use the Geom side to get the tool correct because or machines Upper turret is out to the Head 1 spindle. As you can see from the values we have in X and Y.

Where would I put the wear offset values for tool wear using G41 in an EIA program?

That looks like the eia page not the mazatrol page. What does the mazatrol page look like. There is a tooloffset button on our Mazatrol page. It is here that we access ours.

 

From the manunal:

A press of the [TOOL LENGTH] menu key on the TOOL DATA display changes the display of

the detailed tool information display area at the right of the display as shown below. In this

display format, it is possible to set LENGTH, LENG COMP., and ACT-φ, for multiple milling tools

in succession, or LENGTH A, LENGTH B, WEAR COMP., and MAX. WEAR for multiple turning

tools in succession.
