axis directions in generic fanuc 5x

hello all,

 

I want to do some simple drill work (X2). My post outputs this:

 

N118 T709 M6

N120 G0 G54 G90 X95.5 Y-3. C90. B-90. S7000 M3

 

the X and Y directions are not okay, it should be:

 

N118 T709 M6

N120 G0 G54 G90 X-95.5 Y3. C90. B-90. S7000 M3

 

everything would be fine except that. We have a tbale/table machine.

 

Any ideas, it really drives me crazy....

a little bit more information: the B Axis travels from 0 to -90 degrees (-90 degrees is to the left side when I stay in front of the machine, so the X values should be negative).

Is the a VMC or HMC? If HMC, is your base plane the 'Front'?

I searched a lot in the forum and found out that a guy had a similar problem. I changed the "-vecy" and "-vecx" stuff (put a minus before). I get now the correct coordinates for X an Y but the angle for the B-axis is not right.

 

Pleas help me out of this, I really need to work it out.

 

BTW is the MPmaster Post from Inhouse Solutions easier to set up than the gen fanuc 5x? Where can I buy one, and maybe anybody knows how much it costs?

Its a VMC, ther was no table/table MD for VMC so I used the table/table HMC MD. Does this make a difference? My base plane is "TOP".

 

rotaxis1$ = -vecy #Zero

rotdir1$ = -vecx #Direction

 

rotaxis2$ = vecz #Zero

rotdir2$ = vecx #Direction

Bob,

check all the XYZ components in the MMD and make sure they are set to the correct axis and direction.

 

So I think you are saying that the B tilts to the left, rotates CCW as a negative move. So B0 to B-90 is the general work area. Which direction is positive for the C axis?

Thats right with the B-Axis. The C+ Direction is into the machine (Y+ direction).

MPMaster is a 4 axis post not a 5 axis post so no it would not be easier since it would not work at all.

Assuming I'm correct on the C,

I've used:

rotaxis1$ = vecx #Zero

rotdir1$ = -vecy #Direction

rotaxis2$ = vecz #Zero

rotdir2$ = vecx #Direction

 

with C as the primary, B as the secondary

So far, so good the X and Y values are not bad. The direction of the B-Axis is not okay, it posts B90 instead of B-90. What can I do to get the direction fixed?

Anything over the years I think it good or important information I add it to a word file I have. Right now I have about 200 pages from here and about 1000 pages in Mastercam folder of tid bits. Every so often I go through or when I need something I look in the book or my word file.

I do the same thing Ron. I've got a 'Post Info.doc' file that I add to constantly with graphics similar to the above.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know why mastercam doesnt include a default MD/CD of a table table VMC setup? Is it because its the most common 5 axis setup?

there is a HAAS trunnion MD/CD/PST installed from the optional machine defs. They should also have a generic table-table VMC MD/CD as part of the main install
