Self Intersecting Geometry

Hello All,

I am having a problem with a (customer supplied) solid. When I try to do a HST Core Roughing it fails and and when I analyze the solid it has 8 instances of "Self Intersecting Geometry".

I looked thru the help file for "Heal" and the only thing I saw was "STL Heal" which is no help because I have not created an STL yet.

Is there a way (in MasterCAM) to Heal my solid?

In setting config >> converters, there is an option to attempt to heal a solid upon import

 

 

You might try setting that and reimporting the solid.

 

I have also been able to get some to be healed by importing them into Solidworks

and, if that doesn't work, you can try converting to surfaces and untrim and retrim the offending surfaces.

This crazy thing is full of holes.....I am just going to contact the customer and tell them I cant work with this thing.

didja try "solid find features" ?

if it works you can have it create ops, then place the HST above the body cuts in the solid tree (deja vu....musta said this three times in the last 24 hrs)
