Ok, we are having an issue here.

We have a network hasp which is located on one of the other programmers PC's.

Well, I can boot up MC and start programming something and be in the middle of a toolpath processing, or creating surfaces, or setting up parameters on a toolpath....well really just about anything including doing nothing......;0) and I will get a dialog box that pops up stating that, "The Network SIM has become disconnected and Mastercam will have to shut down. You will have one chance to save your work." banghead.gifbanghead.gif

This happens 15-20 times a day for no apparent reason. banghead.gif Sometimes the guy whos computer the Network Hasp is on is processing a toolpath and other times he is doing nothing as well....

Anyone else have this problem and how do we go about fixing it...

Very Frustrated banghead.gifconfused.gifbanghead.gif

Jeff,

This is a question for your IT guy.

It sounds like the "other" system is not broadcasting so that your system can not see the "server"

Setting this up on a network server may help alleviate this issue.

Yes John,

Exactly the same problems. We have moved to new Engineering/Programming offices which are all hardwired so no more WiFi connections but the same problems are occuring. We had went to individual hasps for a couple of years and decided to go back to the network hasp and "viola" back to the same problems

Hi Jeff,

- Is your NetHASP.ini file (in the root of Mastercam) configured to point to the IP address of your NetHASP server? If not, try it.

- Is port 475 open to any firewall that you are running?

- Have you tried disabling the firewall?

- Have you tried running just a dedicated NetHASP server without anyone else using the machine locally?

- Are you running the latest drivers for the NetHASP (they can be found on Mastercam.com)?

- Have you tried disabling antivirus software on your system temporarily to see if this alleviates the problem?

- Has you dealer tried a different NetHASP? The SIM itself might be bad.

A lot of things can contribute to NetHASP disconnection errors, but most of the time the issue lies within the user's network. These are just a few things to try. Your reseller might need to come for a visit and help debug these issues. I also really recommend getting a dedicated NetHASP server. I've used machines as old as pentium 2s to run just the Aladdin NetHASP server client (no Mastercam on the machine) and I have not had any problems. You don't need a screaming machine, but having someone use the computer as a work machine is asking for trouble. Hope this helps.

The electrical circuit may be slightly overloaded or you may not be getting a full 110volt power to the computers and router. We had the same problem here, though we don't have a net-hasp, of a computer losing network connection whenever the optical comparator that was located nearby was turned on. We put the comparator on a different cicuit and it hasn't been a problem since. May be something to look into.
