newbie wants to change color

right click on colored button on bottom of screen.

 

select entities

 

hit enter

 

select color

how do i bring them in to level 2 lets say?

select what you want to change the level of and right click the level at the bottom of the screen. it brings up the level dialog box and just select the level you want or make a new one.

you can also use the "new Attributes" feature in the file merge dialogue box to bring them in on a separate level than the active level and any color you want.

do i have to create that new level first or can i create it from that dialogue box?

I always create a new level 1st. I also have the V9 change level and color button on my toolbar.

I often change color and move to a new level at the same time if I am isolating geometry that I am using for a toolpath. Right click on the Attributes button at bottom of screen, select geometry, accept--when the Attributes form comes up: select the new color, then click on new level button, and the level form comes up which you can make new level and define. Click ok and ok and viola--color changed and on new level!
