Which 5 Axis machine

We are looking at buying 2 more 5axis machines. We currently have a Matsuura MAM72-63V and love it. The only problem is floor space. So far we are looking at

1. Mori Seiki NMV 5000.

2. Mitsui Seiki Vertex 550 (only 2M x 3M foot print)

3. DMG DMU60

 

Any comments would be helpful

I think the best choice in this case is the Vertex 550. This also has AC table kinematic and Fanuc controller. This will make it easier for the operators and you can basicly use the same post as for the MAM72-63V.

 

But what about having a look at the Matsuura MAM72-42V without pallet changer. This machine must be almost same size as the Vertex.

Methods doesn't stock non pallet changer. The MAM 42v work piece size in limited to 13.7 height. The Vertex 550 in 16.5 height. I like the foot print on this machine but concerned with the spindle HP, 5.5kw continuous. Anybody have any experience.

From what I can read here http://www.mitsuiseiki.co.jp/en/machine/vertex/04.html the Vertex only takes 12.8 in height. But I know the MAM72-42V can take more than 13.7 if you don't need to swivel to A-110. I think Methods has some drawings with maximum workpiece size.

The Deckel will be a nice machine if you are a Heidenhain fan like me.

Deckel Maho DMU 60 monoBLOCK, Hermle C20U or C30U and Mikron UCP 600 Vario all very compact and with Heidenhain.

But Heidenhain is very different compared to Fanuc. Personally I prefer Heidenhain because they have some really nice functions for 5X ( CYCL DEF 19, PLANE, M128 ) witch all work perfect. Fanuc also has similar functions but Heidenhains works better.

We have a 5-axis Deckel. It's a great machine. Hiedenhien is very different from Fanuc and will require some training. We also have a 4-axis Mitsui Seiki horizontal and that's also a great machine. I'd say you can't go wrong with any of the machines you listed.

+1 on the Heidenhain- we have a Hermle C40 with a pallet changer, and it can take about 20" tall part. Without the pallet, about 4" more.

The Heidenhain does take some training, but it will spoil you for 5x work once you learn all it can do for you.

I am quickly becoming a Heidenhain fan. Have you looked into Hermle?
