Analyse Mass calculation

I am set up in english and trying to determine the mass of a solid but i am uncertain as to what units of measure is being used for density? Is it lbs per cubic inch, lbs per cubic foot, oz per cubic inch, what?

I think it's lbs / cubic inch.

pounds per cubic inch. According to Machinery Handbook, steel is .283 to .284. Create a 1" solid cube and enter .283 in the field on the Solid Properties page, it will weigh .283 pounds per cubic inch.

If you hit the question mark in the Solid Properties dialog box, it will show you the help material for this function.

Note: The density calculation (based on the equation Mass = Volume * Density) works with any system of units, so that you can enter the Density using your base coordinate system's current units, English or metric. For example, if a length of 1 = 1 meter, then enter the density in kg/m3 to calculate the mass in kilograms. If the length is displayed in inches, then enter a density in lbs/in3 to calculate the mass in pounds.

Actually it's anything you like per cubic inch. If you give it a density in lbs/in3 it'll give you lbs. If you give it a density in tons/in3, it'll give you tons.

But it is always (in 'English' mode) per cubic inch. Likewise, in 'Metric' mode, it's anything per cubic mm.
