Anyone having trouble getting assign tool number sequentially to stick as a default?

In your op manager click Files, then the "!" beside Operation defaults, scroll up click the properties to expand it, click tool settings and set it in there.Hit the Green check to save.

If you use custom defaults file it still reads some info (tool settings and some other stuff) from the original file named mill_inch.defaults (so change the setting there also).

Make sure you are using the correct control definition and doing it in the main settings not through the operation page. The operations page is a local copy the one you get to though your machine definition on the settings is the one that is the best way in which to eb sure you are getting the changes you want to stick any other way to me is hit or miss.

I hope that help you see what is going on. They seem like a mess then once you get use to the methodology then you see where in maybe the next 5 years it will be useful.

I have had the same problem ever since X came out and have always had to manually edit it.

 

I know exactly how to alter the control def through the machine def but what is the exact button you click or option you select so that every tool gets numbered sequentially regardless of libray number.

 

It always pulls the library number into the tool # (1012 or whatever). Then it puts a -1 in the head number and leaves the len offset and dia offset at 0's.

 

Is it capable of sequentially numbering the tools for each job and matching the cutter comp number and hieght offsets so I don't have to change them?

 

Like I said, I fully understand making changes to the control def through the machine def. It just seems that no matter what I change in the tool field the problem isnt fixed.
