One of my favorite surfacing toolpaths.

 

It's a very picky toolpath though. All surfaces have to have consistant normals and have to flow in the same direction.

 

If I can't get multisurfaces to flow I'll toolpath each surface individually. Takes some time but as a programmer. That's your job!

 

You might have to re-create some of the surfaces to get that one to flow. It's codes nicely and usually you'll get a good surface finish.

depending on the surfaces, blend can work well too, and is very similar.

+1 on the Blend.

 

 

1 - Use Create Curve ALL edeges. Click on Opend edges button.

 

2 - fix the broken edge with the create->Spline->Blended Spline.

 

3 - Select Toolpaths->SurfaceFinish->Blend.

 

4 - Select spiral type if you want...

Yeah, that button is easy to overlook. It's a huge time saver! It's the little things that make Mastercam so great sometimes.

i give up. i just did a quick test with curve on edges with and without the 'open edges' button; also using large and small values. i didn't see a difference. it was only on a flat square plane - maybe that makes a difference. what does this feature do?

When pressed it also takes care of the wireframe from "straying away" from the surface. It will follow the surface better in most cases. I've had really good luck with it pressed.

Just read this thread and WOW that 'open edge' button in 'create curve all edges' is great. It saves me a lot of time. Thanks Alvaro for pointing that out.

i was reading in the help menu and i guess it was a chook. Im with you, i wish Ive known about this feature sooner. I wonder if V9 had it?
