MCX3 vs Partmaker

Hi guys, does anyone out there use PARTMAKER and how does it compare to MCX. I use MCX3 mu1 for mill2 and 3d work but we have partmaker for lathe work. The main reason for partmaker was for a Kitamura mill-turn we got and 1 citizen screw-machine. Unfortunately for me the guy that knew it somewhat is no longer at my shop and now I have to learn it. I dont like the interface but as long as it works..... curse.gifbanghead.gif

Guest CNC Apps Guy 1

Partmaker will kick Mastercam's @$$ on Mill/Turn. In the future the tables may be even but Partmaker has such a head start... Gonna be a while. Better off learning Partmaker IMHO.

Now, Mastercam will kick the crap out of Partmaker on the milling side hands down so keep up with that.

It's problem is Lathe Period

The 2 axis lathe package in Mastercam is very good... and I've done some very trick

C axis mill/turn and surfacing work with Mastercam lathe.

I've never had the opportunity to program

multiple turrets or multiaxis lathe so I can't comment on that..

Lathe hasn't been getting much love from the maintenance deptartment lately though. frown.gif

Like JP said. Mastercam is great in any lathe app. when there are no multiple turrets. It runs out of steam because it cannot do sync codes or real simulations. But if I'm correct, the Kitamura doesn't have multi turrets and is more of a 5axis mill w/ turning. So, MC would be my choice for that. MC would be my last choice for swiss though.
