fadal canned cycle problem

When the program is started the machine moves to

the first position on the G83 line then moves,skips to the next coordinate before starting to drill.I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with a fadal 4020 vmc. If so, is there a way to correct the problem in the post?

Do you have "Immediate fixed cycle execution" set as a Fadal parameter? Type SETP from the command line and page through the parameters if you're not sure. Just wondering if maybe it's something on the Fadal side, rather than the MC side. This will happen if your Fadal parameters are NOT set for immediate fixed cycle execution. If this is the problem, you can either change the Fadal parameters so it does drill immediately, or change the post to output the X and Y location ON THE DRILLING LINE...G81, G83...whatever. This is the ONLY way to get the machine to drill the first hole location if your parameters are set that way in the Fadal. Hope this helps.

What version of MC are you running. I have seen this with earlier Fadal post. It is a pretty easy fix.

Trevor I am using version 8.1 and the only way I have been able to correct the problem is to manually insert a dummy x y position move on the E1 line before the canned cycle line and insert the x y of the first hole on the line following the canned cycle line

This is a Fadal thing. Depending on how the Fadal is setup it will do immediate cycle execution as soon has you specify a 'G8?' type fixed cycle block. Means it drills now, at the current X,Y . If you cannot (of don't want) to alter the Fadal parameters you can alter the post processor to force output of the X,Y positions ON the 'G8?' block. This is an easy post edit. If you cannot do this edit, contact you Mastercam Dealer (in MI that would be Axsys )

If you haven't already figured it out already do this:

 

1. From the command mode, SETP

2. Press enter 'til you reach the IMMED FIXED CYCLE.

3. If it says "NO", Toggle to "YES"

4. Press MANUAL to exit.
