Dedicated CAD/CAM Computer

I would like to get folks opinions on setting up a machine just to run CAD and MasterCam. Remove all the E-mail, virus scanners everything but just CAD/CAM. Block internet access at the router and only allow access to the network drive to pull in files (the Network drive is virus scanned) and post code. I realize I would need to use another machine entirely for Internet and communication. But I can't help but think the dedicated machine would run much better.

Thoughts? Anybody doing this?

I keep my Precision Offline and use the Inspiron to go online. It isn't worth risking a Virus, Trojan, or worms. It boots in 15 seconds flat and runs great. Though I had to update my Alibre V11.1 to V11.2 manually it is still worth keeping it clean.

LOL if I had a dollar every time Quicktime, WindowsMedia Player, and all those other junk ware updates popped up during an assembly there would be more money in the bank to buy MC biggrin.gif

Until then I have to use BobScrap/Crap mad.gif

A few days ago someone sent me an email asking for my opinion about a different solid modeling software and didn't give a return email address.

My reply, I like it!!!
