X3 or X3 MU1?

Because the process changed.

If it is X3, you can simply copy your machine and control defs and post to the proper folder and it will update on the fly.

If X3 MU1, you can copy the control def and post to the proper folders and using File >> Import >> VX Machine Def options, navigate to the existing Machine Def and then set it to the proper location in X3.

BTW, it can not already be in the X3 folder as it can not be the source and be overwritten.

OK, first off, have you checked to see that even though the system crashed, that the file updated?

also, have you checked the pathing in your config file to make certain it is NOT pointing into your X2 installation?

assuming the above to be incomplete and paths set correct....

so , you have copied your X2 control def and posts to the proper X3 directories?

Make certain the Machine def is NOT in the X3 folders

Make a folder on your desktop and place the machine def in it.

Open Mastercam, using File import, go through the process of selecting the machine def update and then navigating to the desktop folder as your "From this directory:" and then navigating to the X3 cnc_machines folder as "To this directory:" folder and hit the green check.

In going from V9 to X3, you need to use the updatepost utility

It is available by click ALT + C and launching off the updatepost.dll

Choose what kind of post, where it is currently located, make sure the destination directory is correct and hit the blue ball.

That should update it, do however watch the log file for any errors
