Faro Arm

Did somebody Digitize with a Faro Arm dirct to Mastercam.

Is this possible ???

Is th MCDIGITIZE c-hoock usefull or possible for this ???

I´m quite sure that Verisurf add-on can do it... not sure is MCDIGITIZE could get the job done though...

We have not digitized it in it shows up when ever you use the device inside our software. What are you trying to do???

I´m now making some tools for my customer and he will messure this tools in our plant.

He brings his own Faro Arm.

I´m intereseting to know if I cann take his ARM and messure with my software (Mastercam Mill Level 3)

You can do that but you would need the verisurf software. you can't do it with just mastercam. verisurf links the arm derectly into mastercam.

You can do it with just Mastercam. If your Faro Arm has a foot pedal, you have a driver for it that can be configured to enter the X,Y,Z positions of the tip when you hit the pedal. You can tell Mastercam to create points, lines, or arcs, and then instead of punching in numbers or selecting geometry you position the probe and hit the pedal. It's like a 3D mouse.

if you are wanting to inspect the tool back to the CAD model, you will need Verisurf. By using Matt's method, all the points you take will be relative to the device coordinate system. Using Verisurf will allow you to align to the part and do real time inspection to the CAD model. You will then ba able to produce reports to verify acceptance.
