Offset Milled Holes

Hey all,

 

Been a while since I have done this and its not working out quite rite, so bear with me.

 

I have a hole on the OD of a part that is offset to the diameter. This hole is to be drilled (horizontal machine), but when I setup the origin on the hole and post out it gives me X0 Y0 B38. But the hole is not on center. If I open open the view manager it says X4.5 Y2.5. Those are the numbers I want posted out.

 

So in that, I have unselected 'associative' and still get X0 Y0... Either I cant remember how to do this, or somethign else is goofy.

 

Any thots would be great!

sounds like you need to create a t/c plane for the hole. that way the post knows what to do.

Right, and that is what I did. I just said it differently ('I setup the origin on the hole ').

 

And as such I am still confused by why its not working. Is there a possibility that the post is forcing X0 Y0?

If you set the t/c origin to the center of the hole then THAT IS your x y 0 ......

But is that not the point to making it Non-Associative? So it doesnt pick it up as XY Zero, it gives you the rotation and X 4.xx Y1.xx (or whatever the numbers are)?

Make sure your T&C planes have the same origin as the main wcs.

If it is non-associative you can move it after its was used to create a origin and the origin will not move with it. However in your case you need to set the t/c to X-4.5 Y-2.5. then your path will be at x4.5 y2.5 like you want...
