Parallel processing in X4.

How does the new parallel processing work in X4? If you have a Quad core, will it use all 4 cores? If so, does this mean that it should process considerably quicker than a dual core? Up until now there really hasn't been much reason to go beyond a dual core if all you're doing is running 1 instance of MC.

You can set it to use up to 4 cores. I recently put up the fastest benchmark time of 1M 13S on my homebuilt machine which ran X3 benchmark of 3m flat so it's well worth it.

We are about to upgrade one of our programming computers, sounds like we should be considering a quad core.

 

It would be nice to see a benchmark comparing a dual core to a quad core with similar specs.

 

Too bad about only being able to use 4 cores, this machine has 8, it would be fun to see how quick it would run using all of them.

How about the same specs? Just configure MC to run only 2 of the 4. I'm not home but I could give it try then.

AFAIK, there is not a limit. It defaults to use 4 cores but the documentation makes no mention of a limit. I tried putting 8 in the filed and it took it so... Should be GTG with 8.
