Radius in Y,Z

I'm putting a chamfer on an edge of a part, it has a radius in Y,Z, but when I post it's all point to point in the program. Is there a way to make it put in radiuses in Y,Z instead of point to point?

use your toolpath filter and set the arc motion in the y,z plane..

make sure your arc definitions in the control definitions page supports arcs in y,z plane.

OK, my control definitions are set to support arcs in y,z plane. and I set the arc motion in the filter, but still no good. It does put a G19 in the program with one radius but then in continues point to point. Am I doing something wrong?

This is a double radius in y,z one is a G02 and one is a G03, it only puts in the G02 and then goes back to point to point for the G03 radius.

I J and K or R's..

The geometry you are chaining might be a spline - that will output point to point moves sometimes... Analyze entity properties to find out - and if it is, try converting it to an arc se eif it helps...

It's outputing in R's, I didn't know you could change that. Could you tell me where I can check that? I analyzed it, and it appears to be a radius not a spline.

Check the Arcs page on your control definiton

You can change it to output I J and K's instead of R's.. I J and K output is much safe and more accurate. Make sure you set it to output arcs on all the 3 planes

You do not want to do YZ XZ arcs with R's.

It will hurt you.. if it will run at all.

Another stupid question, it looks like you can't have tool comp with a G18 & G19 is that true, or can you get around that?

for a Fanuc control change it to

Detla Start to center.. that will change

your arc statements from R to I J and K

I don't know if you can engage cutter comp

on the G18-19 planes in a 3 axis VMC enviroment.

I do it all the time on my Fanuc based

5 axis controls

Changing from R to IJK will have no real affect here.

With 3D contour or chamfer, for arc output you need to use filter. The larger your value for tolerance, the longer your arc moves will be.
