Folder Mapping in X4

Why is it so hard for MC to map where you want to save NC, MCX, files etc.

The project manager does not work at all, just like

in X3 and X2.

It is so difficult to have MCX and .NC files to

default to the directory that the MCX file was

opened in. I have it mapped to a folder on my server

in (config/files/mill nc programs) yet it always

goes to the NC folder in the Mcamx4 install folder.

Searching for the folder that I want it in is

the biggest waste of time, above the lag, trim and crash issues.

Every other software I use aY LEAST directs all save to The folder that I open the file in, and if I redirect it actually goes there and stays.

Why cant MC do that or fix the file mapping in config.

Any body else hate this??

Please acknowledge this, it is gonna drive me postal all this clicking and searching.

Should I make a video?

Regards

Rick

I've found that if the connection to a mapped network drive is not active when Mastercam is launched and Mastercam is configured to use the mapped drive in a path, the path gets reverted back to its default. Even is the connection is restored via other means such as Windows Explorer.

I avoid using UNC paths in config files and map what I need as drives. I'm not even sure using UNC paths is possible in Mastercam configs.

Tony, sure, if you mean setting it in the machine group properties

I dont see browse boxes or a place to select where to save them to in there.

.

.

But if you mean here

I just open a machine group and made a tool path group and a contour tool path.

Went to post it and look......
