MACHINING LETTER

Hello everybody

I usually machined the letter in MCX(BOX)fONT Which is always single line and the tool goes on the top. Now the job I am working have cambria font which is double line. This is also in the mirror image. Now the double line letter, Do I have to pocket each character with smallest tool or there is some other way to do it. Pleas if any body suggest

I find do a window and don't go as deep. But what are you using for a tool. I use engraving tools that come to point and work well for this.

Letter is .03 deep and I saw from the letter shape inside width is from .036 to .026

I guess, have to use some small flat end mill. Depth and width is impartant to get the imression in the part from the mould.

How I can get single lines character for cambria font so I can run the tool on the top of the geom.

Currently with my setting I am getting double line character.

Ah a mold then I really like using the engraving tools as the have taper for pull on the mold.

Is this plastic or wax or Die cast?

Here is the letter. This is .03 deep from the surface. Every character of Cambria font is with the width. Please suggest the approach

Rakesh...I have had to cut letters like this befor and it can be a pain sometimes. I also use an engraving tool that has the proper taper that I want but instead of a point I put a .01 to.015 flat on the end. I use "CONTOUR" and go in around the inside of the letters one @ a time. When I verify the toolpath if there is any material left over I'll add a small line to remove extra material and add it to my chain. Not good for high volume parts but it's ok for 1 or 2.

I've done that before. I manually generate a centerline for each letter and drive off that.

Use and engraving tool and the engraving toolpath. That will do exactly what you are looking for.

 

Or you can always use an egraving tool, then pocket the letters. under stock to leave enter a negative number of (DiaTool-DiaTip) for a true verify. No need to do this if you have X4, engrave is included.
