  1. I changed it from undefined to ball mill catagory with no help then changed it back...now in the edit tool window it doesn't display right but in verify it does.....go figure.
  2. I have a problem...AGAIN.. I have a lot of tools in my custom tool file however, all of my tools work great except for the insert ball mills. I never have a problem until X4 MU3. I found a work around for it and never had the time to figure out what was going on. I re-done them all and now i get the correct tool path but it shows my tools @ 1/2 scale. WTF..... can anyone give me a hand?
  3. You should have: % o12345 - - - % (%) has to be @ the beginning and end
  4. WOW.....That was it...it moved so fast i almost missed it. THANKS!!!
  5. Anyone know why when I use Dynamic mill and go to verify, the graphics only move about half the speed smell. No other tool path does this. It's not my computer, all my other programs still run 100 mph while in verify.
  6. Ramp back and forth end to end to the bottom and then clean up the outside.
  7. REMEMBER....stop 1/4 turn before it breaks and you'll have no problems.
  8. Kennametal has some FB drills that I use in allum. that there is no need for pre-drilling or spot drilling. Just move to location and drill. They work great. Page a26 of there innovations/cutting tools 2011 book.
  9. I used xform as a work around and it did seem to work o.k. but I am still trying to figure out why this is a problem that just pops up once and awhile. I have used flat end mills to cut arks in Z/X before with no problem and then all at once I cant do it to save my A**.
  10. no problem...I just hope someone has a suggestion so I don't have to start this over.
  11. Yea...that aint it. Picture a lazy wavy line and you want to machine to it but not through it using a ball mill. If you select tip the outer edges of your tool will pass through the line. Most always MC will fallow the contour with the edge of the tool. Usually I don't have this problem but when I do I can never get it to go awaywith out starting over from scratch.
  12. I do a lot of contour and surfacing here. I have an issue with 3D contouring that bites me in the A** now and then and I was wandering if someone could help with this. Every great once in a while when I'm using a ball mill to do a 3D contour straight down into a part, MC puts the tool path at the tip of the tool while most of the time it follows the outer edge of the tool which is what I want. 98% of the time (I calculated that) It follows the edge of the tool like it should, but when it follows the tool tip I can't seem to figure out how to fix it so I just keep starting over until it works. Any suggestions?

  14. I always extend my surface out half the diameter of my tool when starting a surface, or if you have roughed it down you can calculate how much to extend it so your tool doesn't gouge on the first cut.
  15. ARGO A-56 A.P.C. Fast, fast, fast. with a small footprint and excellent surface machining. Sold by LIH CHANG Machinery co.
  16. Never mind I figured out what was going on. My lines are about 15" long and one end of some of the line were off in Z about .01". Once I projected them flat to a surface I got the ramp option back.
  17. Anyone know why if I select a line and run a Contour Ramp pass and then select a different line and try to do the same I lose the ramp option. It's like it's there on min and gone the next.
  18. Click the wavy lines above tree. "Toggle Tool path"

  20. A while ago I was complaining to a couple of operators that they were taking way to long on some jobs and they told me that the time on the set up sheet was way off. I told them "B*** S***". after some arguing I slipped out in the shop and found they were running the override at 50%. Make sure everything is at 100%.
  21. We do Die button holes here every day and always hard mill them to size. I don't think we have ever ground a button hole. I have never use our C.N.C. for a jig grinder but I have on occasions used it as a surface grinder. Made an arbor for a 4" cup wheel and run it 3600 rpm.
  22. We have a newer Haas VF4 and it's load monitoring is excellent!
  23. OSG makes drills that will drill that stuff like butter all day long........
