High Feed Mill Recomendations

Good morning all,

I was looking for recomendations on a good high feed mill to be used to cut p-20 and 4140 using 50 taper hass and a takumi. I wanted to know what you guys are using and why one might be better than another. We currently use mostly ingersoll and seco for our other insertables. It will mainly be used for roughing 3d surfaces. Our company doesnt like to spend money on tooling so we only get one chance at this. Any help would be great.

Iscar FeedMills rock! We have them in sizes from 1" to 3" and several different lengths

We use a mitsubishi ajx cutter here seems to work good but that is the only highfeed cutter we have so I have nothing to compare it to.

for a 2.0 cutter .035 DOC 1200rpm and 400ipm im 43040HT , the insert works perfectly

We use a Kennemetal 1.5 dia 1285 rpm,230 ipm,they claim you can run .059 doc but i typically run about .035 so it doesnt pound the machine so much.Use this on an old Fadal 40 taper to square mold inserts to size before heat treat and profile net shape,works great.Will square a 12x12 block 3 inches thick h-13 less than a half hour.

Ive used mitz and sandvik with excellent results.

We use Sumitomo and Sandvik high feed mills, both work good, but I would have to lean towards the Sandvik.
