Okuma L1060 Lathe

Splines on the hydralic pump motor shaft are gone and machine is down. This machine is the heartbeat of the shop. Very expensive from Okuma around 5g's. Gonna try and fix it ourselves before dropping the cash. Anyone know where i can find good used parts and get them here quickly.

Can you turn up a new shaft and send it out to have it splined?

Considering its the heartbeat of your company

why would you want to try a pinch pennys ??

 

Are you willing to cause further downtime to get a

better price on an inferior replacement part.

 

In the long run its much better to just take it

for what it is and know the machine will be back up

and running as it was.

Parts from Okuma are always big money, but they almost always have what you want in stock. If you can find the manufacturer of the motor and buy the thing direct, you would most likely save yourself about half of what Okuma wants for it, but downtime is expensive.

the internal splines are jacked up as well as the shaft.

Hardmill, my thoughts exactly!! The GM finally got the owner to order the parts from okuma. Should be running agian by Monday.

IMHO 5g$ of repair is nothing compared to a full week of down time.....

 

 

i can confirm that Okuma part is not cheap
