Ok, on the same lines as Dave said. Before I got the 8600gts I was running a quadro fx 540. I was captured by the performance specs on the 8600, It just blew the quadro out of the water on paper. Then I turned on the computer installed the drivers, and was very disappointed in the quality of the graphics, performance was amazing, graphics.. not so much. It might have something to do with the fact I was running autocad at the time. That brings me to Daves comment about MC having sub standard graphics.. run autocad for a few days then go back to MC.. Mastercam has excellent qraphics.

According to that article there's nothing in a workstation card that would help Mastercam with the possible exception of increased reliability. I've used a couple Quadro cards and really found no benefit as compared to gaming cards except for Realview in Solidworks. Due to driver optimization a Quadro might run 25% faster than the equivalent G-force, but then it costs four times as much. When you go with the G-force line you can bump up a few steps in the food chain and still pay a lot less. And yes, I have a 950 watt PSU driving that 260 card.

Dave, I'm not surprised. Any video card is better than onboard.

Disclaimer: I have no experience running Autocad on different cards, it may behave differently than Mastercam or Solidworks.
