Dual Monitor and MasterCam Lock ups

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I have dual monitors, left is my MasterCam session, right is Op Manager and Levels.

For awhile I was having issues with VoluMill 3D basically loosing focus with the dialog/not communicating with MasterCam. It was as if MasterCam was waiting for VoluMill to report back. If I created a VoluMill 3D Op and wanted to make a change/regen, then during the regen process it would freeze up right when it transitioned from "processing" (in the bottom left corner) to the hand off to VoluMill (When the VoluMill dialog popped up and showed the percentage). The dialog just never showed up. I was unable to click anything on the monitor which had MasterCam running, the other monitor had Op Manager and Levels and I could click on them.

That problem was resolved but now it appears I'm having the issue with MasterCam surface toolpaths. If I click an Op to open and edit, I see it flash real quick and then MasterCam is locked.

Anyone else experience this? My reseller has seen this same issue on his Dual Monitor setup and is reporting the issue, I wanted to see if any forum members have?

Thanks,

Josh-

I don't have Volumill,

but dual screens setups run much

better if you keep Mastercam on the screen that

is NOT your primary Windows desktop.

I have the Windows Taskbar, icons and

Start Menu on on the left screen,

Mastercam on the right.

A lot of times when you get a lockup like this

its not really a lockup, just an open

window waiting for a response and you can't see

it because its under something on the other screen.

"Gaming graphics 2782 MB Total available graphics memory 7.1" ??? Gaming graphics, is that a win 7 thing?

Pot shot: Try monitoring the system temp while running.

Also see if the Solidworks web site has the latest drivers for that card and try those. Get Driver sweeper, use it then install the new drivers. Some folks in the forum claim better performance with the SW drivers.

For some reason Desktop Manager no longer

loads on my machine at start up in the morning.

I'm not sure why. It has run trouble free for years and many different computer.

Latly I've had to make a destop shortcut and use that in the morning. Not sure what's going on with this.. I'm still working it.
