Chip Trap system

Was wondering if any one has use the chip trap system for there haas? This is the product http://store-chiptrap.com/cart.html Im thinking of purchasing it and was wondering if any one has used it and could give an opinion on how they like it. Thanks in advance.

My last shop had these. It was basically a ltterbox with a bunch of holes drilled in the bottom, then lined with what looks like home furnace air filters? It worked pretty good. I just line my chip tray with 1 layer of Terry cloth shop rags. It catches almost everything. I just switch it out every couple of weeks. Coolant stays pretty clean. Works great when doing stuff like G-10

very interesting.

Running aluminum 24/7, we have problems where the factory chip pan will clog with fines, and then overflow.

My concern is that the filters in this Chip Trap would clog very quickly.

We had a roller type one on the bigger machines at a place I worked at years ago. It had a roll of the felt that passed under the coolant drop out. The whole roll was then thrown out after it was done. You could set a speed at which ti ran to keep waste down. If you had over night runs then you could run 1 foot an 15 minute or up to 1 foot an hour. Now no problem with chips getting into the chip bin.

I have been using one of these for a couple of months now, and have been very pleased.

But do not waste your $ on the "Deluxe Kit". We found the "Filter Alert" to be of no use.
