I can see that there is some confusion about additional fees like duty and taxes.

Let me try to clear that up. This is what people should expect when buying a SpaceController through our shop:

 

$299 for the SpaceController

$22 for shipment

4% of the good for customs ($11.96)

MDF (only applies to orders higher than $2000) which is at least $25 or 0.21%

VAT is different in each state from 0-10.25%

 

Let’s assume that the customer lives in Kentucky and wants to buy a SpaceController.

He buys it through our shop and pays $299+$22 directly to us. In 3-5 business days he will receive the SpaceController with an additional invoice from the U.S. Customs ($11.96). Referring to this document (http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/sales.pdf) he has a tax rate of 6% in Kentucky which means that he will have to pay additional 6% of the goods value ($299 -> $17.94). This step varies from state to state. The customer will most likely refer to the invoice in the annual tax declaration.

 

We are currently working with the German Customs Administration to get another commodity code that will allow us to reduce the cost for customs in the US.

 

Please keep in mind that this is just an assumption without any guarantee of correctness. We do not have any further information than those provided from U.S. customs since we don’t have any influence of the whole import process.
