OT fanuc31a macro question

First at the beginning of the program we run satandard preloads.

G10 G90 L20 P7, etc.

Then the probe picks up some points on a forging. The forgings vary on a radius that the probe picks up and because of the flash from the two halves of the forging dies we cannot pick up where we need to get a more accurate result. we are blending a machined feature to the forging. So to allow the operators to make small on the fly changes without having to edit the programmed G10 inputs I have added incremental G10 lines at the beginning of the tool path after probing.

Here is my question?

We wanted to use offset wear number 199 and 200 for the adjustment amount. So I tried

G10 G91 L20 P7 X#2199 Y#2200.

For some reason it doesn't read the #2199 or #2200. I thought that was allowed. For the time being I captured them to a variable.

#800=[#2199]

#801=[#2200]

G10 G91 L20 P7 X#800 Y#801

It is working fine, I just didn't want to use another variable if needed.
