X4 MU3 VERIFY HELP PLEASE

Hi, I created a 5 deg taper mill tool and it will not display or do anything when I try and verify my toolpath. The tool displays fine in backplot but not verify. I am running x4 mu3. Thank you Steve

Try use an existing tool and change the taper to the angle you desire. That way you know it will work in verify.

 

If your looking for taper tools try using the Big_Inch or Big_MM tool library. Once you have selected the desired size right click on the tool and choose Edit Tool enter your 5 deg taper.

Make sure in your tool definition/parameters there is a picture of the tool, and not a big red X. The big red X means you've got some dimension in there that does'nt make sense. Common in taper mills.

To add to what Chris said if you see the red x instead of the tool picture there will be an explanation of what is wrong with the tool at the bottom of the page that has the red x.

Thanks for the help guys. As I play with it a little more, I have determined that the radius on the tip is screwing it up. I find that if I change to no tip rad it will run in verify. If I change it to a full tip rad it will not run in regular verify but will display the end result in turbo, but that looks like I used a chisel to and hammer to cut my cavity. I have also experienced a similar problem with a 1mm ball mill in a 2d contour ramp toolpath. I am thinking a graphics issue or a bug in mcam. Any have any thoughts on this? Thank you Steve
