Part Setup Help Needed

Alright heres the scenario - We need an efficent way of setting up parts to be trimmed and drilled on our 5 axis. All parts have one flat surface (Datum A) and a second surface (Datum . Trim profile is not important but hole positions are very tight. We are using mastercam to generate the trim programs.

 

We produce many differnt parts at a high rate and part setup time on the machine is killing us.

 

We have a Renishaw probe but are not quite sure how to use it. Ive attached a basic picture to give a better mental image. ANY help that can be given is greatly appreciated.

We may need a little more information. What specifically is it that is making the setup take so long.

cut them on the end of bar stock and cut off.

The probe should have some macros for your machine with variables for setting work offsets. Check the manual.

Are you talking about trimming composite forms? Maybe if you could post a couple pictures we could get some better insight as to what you're doing.
