Inverse time or not on 4th/5th part ?

Programing a 4140 pretty sophisticated part (for me) on a 4th axis rotary. 5x multisurf and swarf. Part has features from 3 to 6 inches in diameter. Going down to .125 tools at least. Gotta run inverse time, right?

I always use inverse on my Haas. The motion is smoother.

This is a new machine (to me) and I'll be back when I can't figure out the proper combiniation of machine parameters and signed/not signed/0-360 settings in my mmd.

Haas Applications Dept uses MC so they can help you out. They may even throw you a post.

make sure you have the post output lock/ unlock, otherwise the Haas will do it automatically..on every move.

older rotaries were limited to about 9000°. not sure about newer ones.

depending on the model dont expect them to be fast and smooth.

We have almost all Haas epuip. here & they serve us well but I recently had Haas training on a new VR-8 and they were using MC9.

 

Just be sure to unlock the brake along with inverse time. We have a max rotrary value of 360000° and on our TC5 rotary it must unwind at end of toolpath.
