Maintenance and bug fixes

I would like to hear someone from CNC- software explain why there is no more free bug fix releases in Mastercam. Right now we are forced to be on maintenance to get the existing bugs fixed. It just makes me wonder why would they do any more "bug less" software when they can sell the new release by saying "this or that bug will be fixed in next release". Right now there are bugs in, for example, Lathe that make the tool rapid thru the part but the only way to get them fixed is to buy the new release.

We are not happy with ths maintance program, you pay each year for, more bell' s and whistles, and more bugs. X4 is the buggest release we have seen so far, what is next in x 5? more bugs to add to the list, and more money spent by the customer.

 

Most of the master cam customers, just want a stable software package. The software works very nice, when it works.

 

At this point, CNC software needs take hard look at there future, along with other software companies, make you customers happy with a stable software package.

The only way I've see this happen is if the user doesn't define his stock.

 

Is there another way to make it happen?

Yes the stock is defined correctly but the inside tool still rapids thru the part when exiting.

Are you using the same tool in 2 consecutive OPs?

 

Can you share an example?

i do not see this with X4. i just pulled in a sample part and reprogrammed with all default settings.....no user-home position or ref points used.

That tool is only used once and its the last operation. I sent the file to cq and got an answer that it works in X5.

I've had the same problem but it is mostly with

newly created tools that aren't in a library. If you use tools that are in an existing library that and you just modify them they seem to work fine.

I have had this happen and founnd that I can simply renumber my tools and it is usually fixed, it seems that bore tools sometimes want to start or end were the previuos turn tool ended...
